If you're an Alabama fan, and you're anything like me, when August comes around, you're ready for FOOTBALL! With that in mind, here are some facts to get Alabama fans ready to go for the upcoming year:
- This is Alabama's 106th season of football. Football has been played at Alabama since 1892. No games were played in 1898, 1918, or 1943.
- On the field, Alabama's all-time record stands at 742-259-44, a 73.1% winning percentage. Alabama has scored 23,861 points and allowed 10,905 - this equates to an average score of 23-10.
- Alabama is 83-19-3 in season openers, a 80.5% winning percentage. The average score for season openers: 29-8 'Bama. The biggest margin of victory in a season opener was also the biggest win ever for Alabama - a 110-0 victory over Marion Institute in 1922.
- The Crimson Tide is a perfect 3-0-0 on games they have played on September 2nd.
- Concerning Alabama's opening opponent, UCLA: Alabama has only played UCLA once before, in the 1976 Liberty Bowl. 'Bama beat the Bruins 36-6.
- 'Bama has played at the Rose Bowl 6 times and is 4-1-1 in those games.

- Bama is 9-3-1 all-time vs. teams from California. The last time Alabama played a team from California was in the 1985 Aloha Bowl vs. USC (a 24-3 Alabama win).
- Alabama's all-time record in the state of California is 8-1-1, an 85% winning clip.
- Alabama's all-time record against teams from the Pac-10 is 13-3-1. The last time Alabama played against a team from the Pac-10 was 1986, in the Sun Bowl vs. Washington. The Tide posted a 28-6 victory.
- And finally, one that should really get your blood pumping...head coaches in their fourth year at Alabama have a sparkling record of 74-16-5 (80.5%), including three national titles (1926, 1934, 1961). If there was ever a year for Bama to win a national title, history points to this one!
