2000 - Week 1
What a disappointment this past Saturday was. But I'm still going to take a look at what went on, and what's coming up.
- This is the 20th time Alabama has lost its opener. It's the first opening game loss since 1990, and the first loss in a road game in the opener since 1976.
- Though we did lose our opener, don't lose hope! Alabama has come back to win the rest of its games once (in 1975: 11-1) and to even win a national title once (1965: 9-1-1).
- Alabama's record falls to 3-1 on September 2.
- This is the first 35-24 game Alabama has ever been in, win or lose. The Tide has been beaten by 11 points on five occasions, and by 11 or more 123 times.
- Alabama's mark falls to 7-3 when both teams combine for exactly 59 points. When Alabama scores 24 or more, the Tide is now 404-16-2 (39-4-1 when scoring exactly 24). When Alabama gives up 35 or more, the Tide is 1-26-1 (1-10 when giving up exactly 35).
- Bama's record is now 4-2-1 in Pasadena, and 8-2-1 in the state of California.
- Bama now has a 1-1 record against UCLA.
Up Next - Vanderbilt
Just a couple of things for right now.
- Alabama's all-time record against Vanderbilt is 55-18-4; that's a winning percentage of .740.
- We come back to the lovely state of Alabama for this one...the Tide is 500-136-27 in its home state, a winning percentage of .774. Alabama is playing in Birmingham for this one...their record in the Magic City is 202-78-20. Our record against Vanderbilt when the game is in Alabama? It's 29-6-2, a winning percentage of .810.
