2000 - Week 11
Football season is over. I'm actually happy to say that. Below are the Iron Bowl stats and the final stats for the year.
- Bama's record against the Tigers falls to 37-27-1 overall. Bama still hasn't ever won in Tuscaloosa, or even scored. The aggregrate of those games now stands at 3-0 by a 74-0 margin.
- Bama got shut out for the second time this year and the 100th time overall. The last time Bama had multiple shutouts pitched against it - 1957, with 5.
- Bama's lost by 9 points eight times overall.
- When Alabama gives up 9 points, it generally does okay - they're 7-4. And when they give up single digit points, they're 528-30-35. But it's hard to get a win when the offense doesn't show up. Speaking of that, it's the third 9-0 loss in Bama history (the last before this coming in 1990 to Penn State).
- Bama is now 9-6 on November 18.
- Alabama's Tuscaloosa record this year was 2-2. It's the 10th year Bama had a .500 record in Tuscaloosa, and the 17th non-winning record. Overall, at home this year Bama went 3-3. That's the 8th time Bama went .500 at home overall, and the 17th non-winning home record.
Overall stats:
- To begin with, Alabama's 3-8 record is their worst since 1957 (2-7-1), and their most losses since 1955.
- Bama's points per game this year: 20.73, the lowest since 1984 (20.55) and their sixth-lowest since 1960.
- Bama's points allowed per game: 22.36, the fourth-worst since 1960. Mike Dubose's four years produced four of the six worst defenses Bama's had in terms of points allowed per game since 1960 (2, 3, 4, 6).
And so that's it for the first year of Alabama Football Facts. Admittedly, it was less than fun putting all of these stats together. But I suspect that in the future it'll be more interesting, because hopefully better times are ahead for the Tide. Until next year, Roll Tide!
