2000 - Week 2
What a great fourth quarter! That's what we've been waiting on. It gives us something to look forward to. Here are some figures about the game.
- Alabama's record is now 1-1, the 19th time this has happened in Alabama history. The last time we started 1-1 was 1991 - we won 28 straight after that start.
- Alabama's record on September 9 moves to 3-0.
- This is the second time Alabama has beaten an opponent 28-10. The first time came in the "Sack" game against Notre Dame in 1986.
- Bama has now won twelve games by exactly 18 points, and 391 by 18 or more.
- Alabama's record when both teams combine for exactly 38 points is now 16-5.
- Twenty-eight points is something of a magic number for Alabama...When Alabama scores 28 or more, the Tide is 328-7-1 (23-4 when scoring exactly 28). When Alabama gives up exactly 10 points, the Tide is 33-11.
- Bama runs its record against Vandy to 56-18-4. The only team that Alabama has beaten more often than the Commodores is Mississippi State (67).
- Bama's record in Birmingham is now 203-78-20.
- And of course, Alabama has now won 16 straight on the field against Vandy...the last loss coming in 1984. That's our longest current winning streak against any opponent.
Up Next - Southern Miss
Just a couple of things for right now.
- Alabama's all-time record against Southern Miss is 30-4-2, a winning percentage of .861. Against teams that we've played 10 times or more, that's our sixth-best winning percentage. Top 5:
- Birmingham Southern (10-0; 1.000)
- Chattanooga (10-0; 1.000)
- Howard/Samford (20-0-1; .976)
- Kentucky (31-2; .926)
- Virginia Tech (10-1; .909)
- Our record against Southern Miss when the game is in Birmingham is even better than our overall record. It's 11-1-1; that's a .885 winning percentage.
- We hold an eight game winning streak against Southern Miss. The last time that we lost to the Golden Eagles was in 1990.
