2000 - Week 6
Wow. That was impressive. It's fun to come up with facts after a win like that. Here they are...
- Alabama's point production in this game was the biggest since September 25, 1993 (56-3 over Louisiana Tech). This was the first time that Alabama has gone over 40 points since last year's first Florida game, but it's only the fourth time in the past seven seasons.

- This was Bama's biggest margin of victory since October 30, 1993, against Southern Miss (40-0). Alabama has beaten an opponent by 38 points or more 121 times (by 38 exactly 9 times).
- Not surprisingly, Bama generally wins when they score this much in a game. They're 10-0 when they score 45 exactly, and 104-0 when they score 45 or more. When Bama gives up exactly 7 points in a game, they're pretty tough to beat as well...they're 105-12-12 all-time when that happens.
- When both teams combine for 52 points, Bama has a 10-3 record.
- Bama runs its record against the Rebs to 40-6-1 on the field, 19-1 in Tuscaloosa. Alabama now has 40 wins against five different opponents.
- This was the tenth-most points we've ever scored on an Ole Miss team, and also the tenth-worst beating we've ever given them. It's the worst we've given them since 1983 (40-0).
- Bama doesn't play a lot of Tuscaloosa night games; maybe they should. The Tide is now 14-1 at night in T-town.
- This is the eighth time that Alabama has been 3-3 after six games, but the second in four years (1997).
- Bama's record on October 14th is now 13-3.
Up Next - Tennessee
Once again, the third Saturday in October is upon us, and that can only mean one thing...Alabama vs. Tennessee. These two teams are the winningest programs in the history of the SEC, and obviously there is a lot of history and tradition behind this game.
We all know about the five-game losing streak, so here's some other (some of it happier) info...
- Alabama's all-time on-the-field record against the Vols is 42-32-8. Alabama has beaten only Mississippi State and Vanderbilt more. However, no one has beaten Alabama more than the Vols.
- The only opponent we have played more often than Tennessee (82 times) is Mississippi State (85).
- They call this rivalry "The Third Saturday in October" for a reason. The game has been played on the third Saturday of October 67 times thus far, with Bama holding a 34-26-7 lead in those games.
- Bama has to travel to Knoxville for this one. This is always a tough place to play, but Bama has a 19-17-1 record there over the years.
- This is truly a series of streaks. Amazingly, the last three-year period that has had alternating winners was 1946-1948.
