2001 - Week 7
Ugh. I don't want to say anything else about this game. But here's the facts:
- Bama loses for the seventh straight time against Tennessee, a first against any team.
- Our record against Tennessee is now 42-35-7; Tennessee has beaten us more than any other team has.
- The 35-24 loss marks the second Alabama has taken. Bama lost 35-24 to UCLA last year.
- By scoring 24 points, Bama scores the same in consecutive weeks since the 1999 SEC title game and the 2000 Orange Bowl (34). It's the first time that Bama's scored the same amount of points in two consecutive losses since 1964's Orange Bowl and the 1965 opener (Texas, Georgia; 17). The last time that Alabama's scored the same in three straight games is 10/21-10/28-11/4/1967 (Tennessee, Clemson, Mississippi State; 13).
- It's Bama's sixth loss by 11 points.
- Bama drops to 39-6-1 when they score 24 points. When allowing 35 points, however, the Tide ebbs; they're 1-11.
- Bama falls to 3-4 for the second straight year, and the sixth overall.
- Bama is now 8-6 in games played on October 20. All but three of those games have been against Tennessee.
Up Next - LSU
Homecoming comes to the Capstone (finally). This is the latest homecoming game in quite some time. And LSU provides an interesting opponent for the game, to say the least. Here's some more info.
- Bama is 67-12-1 on homecoming. However, the Tide has lost two of their last four homecoming games.
- Alabama's record against LSU is 42-17-5 in a series that goes back to 1895.
- The Fightin' Tigers are going for their first two-game winning streak against Alabama since 1969-70. It would match their longest streak in the series. Bama's longest streak is 11, from 1971-81.
- Bama holds a 9-4 advantage in games that are played in Tuscaloosa (.692), but that's not their best venue. That would, of course, be Baton Rouge, where Bama is 21-6-2 (.759) against LSU.
