What I Thought About The Wild, Wild Web

Main

(09-23-10) I think you can watch Dr. Lou video on espn.com! Of course, you can also hit yourself in the face with a brick. I don't know why you'd do either one.

(09-23-10) I think I'm going to start referring to myself as @rickyeanes and putting random things with number signs in them so #icanbecoolliketwitter.

(06-13-10) I think Angelina Jolie tried to add me as a friend on Facebook last night....five times....to my work email (which isn't on FB). I know it's spam, but for just a few minutes, can we pretend that it's not?

(09-25-08) I think it may finally be time to do away with What You Think. I blame Facebook.

(08-11-08) I think that those who haven't been to Ricky and Tammy's Page in a while need to go check it out.

(02-26-07) I think I'd probably like Myspace.com a lot better if a) I was 15 years younger and b) you didn't get server errors on every other click.

(07-09-06) I think you may notice some big changes to my website. If not, then this is either your first time or you're like the least observant person ever.

(06-03-06) I think I'm pretty pumped about how much faster the new web hosting service seems to be! Plus, now the floodgates can open on posting photos and stuff online since we now have exactly 20 times the disk space we previously had.

(06-01-06) I think the website is finally up and running at its new home!

(05-06-06) I think on one hand it's kind of cool that MySpace.com has lowered the bar so that any idiot can have their own web page. On the down side, however, any idiot can have their own web page.

(05-04-06) I think it really creeps me out when people refer to computer-related entities like a software program or a piece of hardware like it's a person. For example, phrases such as "this guy has a memory leak" or "he's not going to over-write any data" or "we need to reboot him" just sound weird.

(04-11-06) I think I'm fairly certain that not one of the dozens of people who have ended up on one of my web pages after searching for "baby angel pictures" was trying to find pictures of my dog.

(02-14-06) I think if I were unemployed or not married, I would have time to create and maintain a much cooler website, but I stand by my choice.

(02-08-06) I think when you look at your website stats, you can see some strange things. For example, 1122productions.com has had 28 hits from Romania, and someone ended up on our website after searching for "when was flannel fabric invented".

(01-18-06) I think it's neat to live in a world where I can order two things from Amazon Monday night at about 9:30 PM and they're on my front porch when I get home on Wednesday night, and the shipping was free.

(11-18-05) I think I don't like and don't necessarily trust any website that tries to hide its shipping costs until after you've put in all your personal information.

(10-20-05) I think the spammers have won and I give up. I have removed the ability to add comments from What I Think. If you want to respond to something I said, just put it on What You Think, which is what many of you do anyway.

(08-07-05) I think I finally fixed this page's long-standing rendering problem when there weren't enough entries to go down as far as the menu on the right, which formerly caused the bottom part of the right menu to be all messed up!

(07-24-05) I think when you're having trouble setting up the encryption key on your wireless network, you should probably make sure you didn't make a typo in the key on your router.

(07-06-05) I think Yahoo may have hit an all-time low...I just saw a banner ad for the Paris Hilton Hardee's commercial. Seriously! An ad for an ad!

(07-06-05) I think it's really bad when I'm about to download a song off the internet and then realize that it's from a CD that I already have.

(06-16-05) I think E-Trade has some code hidden in their website that says
if StockOrder.BuyerName = "Richard Eanes" then MakePriceLower(StockSymbol);

(06-13-05) I think this is so retro...I'm posting this through a dial-up connection! It's like the 90s all over again!

(05-25-05) I think it really makes ya feel like a slacker when you still haven't found time to put stuff on your website from your Disney World trip that was last September, and Brandon now has the full journal of his honeymoon trip that was two weeks ago online.

(03-25-05) I think E-Trade has officially joined my list of evil companies. I've had an account there for like 10 years, and then all of a sudden a few weeks ago I get a flier from them that, if you read it closely enough, indicated that I would be charged a $40 Account Maintenance Fee at the end of the quarter if my balance was not over a certain amount. Since I was right under that amount, I didn't worry, and transferred in some extra money on Thursday night. Low and behold, they had evaluated the balances on Wednesday (does March 23 sound like the end of the quarter to you?), and charged me the $40. This is no way to treat a customer, and I will be moving to Scottrade as soon as possible.

(02-21-05) I think I can't even begin to imagine why two Krystal's here in Birmingham are wi-fi hotspots.

(02-04-05) I think I sure am glad I get these spam st0ck tips...I can't tell you how many important investment decisions I've made based on junk email from a seedy company I've never heard of...

(02-02-05) I think if you don't have MS Office on your computer, or just hate Microsoft, you should look into openoffice.org. It's free, compatible with MS Office, and although I haven't used it much, I must say that it at least looks good...

(02-01-05) I think that Amazon is amazingly good at recommending things for me. Of course, I already have a lot of what it recommends, but once you tell it that fact, the future recommendations are that much better.

(01-28-05) I think I really enjoy the arrogance of Mac and Linux users, who seem to think that they are completely immune to spyware and viruses. It's going to be great when some 15 year old kid in Russia gets bored of writing viruses that attack Windows and writes one that takes out all the Linux users.

(01-18-05) I think it was funny this afternoon when I booted up my new laptop (with built-in wireless card) for the first time, and it was picking up four different access points (one was mine, one was my next door neighbor's, and I have no idea on the other two).

(08-11-04) I think Brandon needs to remember that he has a website.

(07-15-04) I think it's weird that I feel like I'm cheating on Amazon anytime I buy something from another web store.

(05-18-04) I think I just saw something dumb from Omaha Steaks. "To use your Certificate on web orders, you must call 1-800-843-5700 and place your order." Doesn't that kind of make it not a web order if you order it over the phone?

(05-04-04) I think I'd like to publically announce that I will *not* be answering my phone on Thursday night from 7-9, so don't try to call me. I'll be busy saying goodbye to some Friends.

(03-25-04) I think the Internet Age has spoiled me. Immediately after the big Alabama win, I came to my computer to go to ESPN.com and read the recap. I fully expected it to be posted, a mere 20 seconds after the game ended. I was disappointed when it was not. ROLL TIDE!

(02-12-04) I think last night was one of the longest nights of my life...my cable modem was messed up all night! Oh, the humanity! I actually had to resort to reading a book! Okay, so it was a Dilbert book, but still...do you know how much spam I'm going to have when I get back online at home now?

(02-03-04) I think, when I'm working from home and have my laptop hooked up on my desk, and I forward an email from my laptop to my home computer, it's kind of funny to think about how far that has to travel to get to the computer that is about two feet from it.

(01-11-04) I think it really makes my day when I'm sending an email on my home computer and the Mood Watch thing (comes with my mail program) tells me that the email I'm about to send would likely offend the average reader, and that I might want to tone it down.

(01-11-04) I think it's really sad that nowadays, one of the nice things you can do for your wife while she's sick is to clean out the junk mail from her email box.

(12-22-03) I think some of us have accepted the cruel, harsh reality that Brandon's pretty much never going to update his web page again.

(10-20-03) I think everyone should check out my newest section, A Few Things... In an effort to keep What I Think random and entertaining, groups of observations about one particular topic (or, in the examples thus far, trip) will be put on here. Go check it out...you'll see what I mean.

(08-06-03) I think everyone should check out our puppy's new website right here!

(06-23-03) I think it probably really stinks to be the guy who's cropped out of the picture of a girl's online personal ad.

(06-02-03) I think sometimes people wonder why I would even want to be able to play on the internet on my TV. The answer is simply because I can.

(04-23-03) I think it's kind of scary that my poetry page (which hasn't been updated in years) still gets more hits than any other of my pages.

(03-07-03) I think if Brandon's on spring break, we'd better be seeing up web site updates...

(02-17-03) I think I have now officially crossed the line and become a Super-Nerd. I have a network setup in my house now, complete with a wireless internet connection for my grand room TV.

(01-27-03) I think a really cool idea for a website would be one where people who have seen a particular movie in the theater can submit their opinions on when is a good time to take a bathroom break during the movie. This would help small-bladdered people to not miss important/exciting parts of movies, and perhaps also allow them to miss boring or bad parts of movies.

(01-10-03) I think I'd like to point out that the "Chicks Who Visited Us" listing on the 1122 part of the website has been viewed 96 times today. The virtual tour of the 1122 apartment has been viewed 106 times. But the best stat of all is the over 46,000 hits on our site today. Yesterday, there were just under 4,000. Thanks, Mountainwings!

(01-08-03) I think it makes me laugh that my email program (Eudora) just told me that an email I was sending to Brandon would offend the average reader, and that I might want to tone it down. Apparently I used the word "crap" too many times.

(01-07-03) I just got some spam that said it was from "CEO of Wal-Mart", asking me to join in on a new business opportunity. They've really pushed past that line of believability lately. Do they really think I'm dumb enough to believe that the CEO of Wal-Mart would send some random person whose e-mail address is spamboy@yahoo.com top-secret information on an incredible new investment? Worse yet, do they think I'm going to believe that the CEO of Wal-Mart actually has his email say that's it's from "CEO of Wal-Mart"? Give the people some credit, you stupid spammers...

(12-18-02) I think our web hosting company is a bunch of poo-poo heads, and I'm not very happy with them for taking our site down for a week.

(12-10-02) I think that, after using a dial-up connection for six hours today, I will never take broadband internet access for granted again.

(11-27-02) I think if Brandon doesn't start updating his web page more often, I'm going to have to do it for him.

(11-26-02) I think I'm finally back online at the new house!

(11-14-02) I think I'm really going to miss having a cable modem for the next week (a side effect of moving).

(10-11-02) I think the only thing worse than pop-up ads on web pages (I can't use Mozilla at work) is ads with sound. GEE, THANKS FOR TELLING THE WHOLE OFFICE I WAS SURFING THE NET...

(10-09-02) I think Brandon needs to update his website more often. Come on, since when does school get priority over the website? What's up with that?

(08-08-02) I think that for some reason, I am incapable of typing the acronymn "LIP" (lines per inch) correctly on the first try. I get "LIP" every time. Good grief, I just did it again!

(08-06-02) I think I have all kinds of ideas for stuff I want to do on my website, but I always either don't have the time or can't get motivated when I do.

(08-05-02) I think it seems kind of odd that Brandon and I get a better internet connection between our computers when we play Red Alert 2 now that he's in Orlando. I know it's because he has broadband now, but still...it just seems weird.

(07-21-02) I think if I get sent Klez one more time, I'm going to scream.

(07-14-02) I think I just spent forever categorizing and importing all the rest of the What I Think archives. So someone had better go back and read them...

(07-10-02) I think that one of my long-term goals is to figure out a way to hook up my microwave to the internet. I'm not really sure what it would do, but it'd be a great conversation starter...

(07-05-02) I think that Brandon's THE MAN for fixing my What You Think page.

(06-30-02) I think technology sometimes still amazes even me. I just got through instant messaging with Bobby, who's in China right now. The very idea that he's halfway around the world and it's morning there, but we're typing like we're next door, is still kind of amazing when you think about it.

(06-26-02) I think that every once in a while, my brain needs a good CTRL-ALT-DEL to get back on track.

(06-21-02) I think it's good to finally be back up and running again.

(06-13-02) I think I'm excited about my new website project...stay tuned!

(06-09-02) I can't believe that I was only gone for 5 days, and my spare e-mail address racked up *92* emails. I further can't believe that every single one was junk mail.

(05-31-02) I think Stacy should remember that the demands of my job at ACIPCO, my marriage, and of course co-running the 1122 Empire *sometimes* prevent me from adding thoughts to my page.

(05-29-02) I think I *finally* organized my Start menu and desktop icons on my "new" computer. And it only took 4 months!

(04-04-02) I think I can't believe that no one noticed (including myself) that one of my thoughts back on January 23 didn't start with "I think".

(04-04-02) I think yesterday was the one year anniversary of What I Think. How did the world manage to get by before then?

(03-05-02) I think people who swoop in at the last minute and outbid you on Ebay stink.

(03-01-02) I think once you've gone with a cable modem, you could never even think of going back to dial-up.

(03-01-02) I think that sometimes my brain performs an illegal procedure and needs to be shut down. It probably needs to be rebooted, but I can't find out how to CTRL-ALT-DEL...

(02-27-02) I think if you haven't crashed Outlook at least once during a day, you weren't working very much...

(02-18-02) I think it's nice to finally be able to say things like, "I'm flying down the information superhighway".

(02-18-02) I think I'm surprisingly comfortable with the fact that my web page stinks.

(02-16-02) I think I would like everyone to know that I am now coming to you live via our new unbelievably fast cable modem!

(02-14-02) I think sometimes computers are just in a bad mood.

(02-12-02) I think every now and then you find an online store that's just not completely with it...today I received my shipment confirmation email...for a package that shipped on the 7th...that I received yesterday.

(01-30-02) I think Spider Solitaire is REALLY hard, unless you play with only one suit.

(01-27-02) I think Windows XP is by far the best operating system Microsoft has ever made.

(01-23-02) I think I know two reasons why Amazon posted its first ever profit during the 4th quarter of last year: Tammy's wish list, and my wish list.

(01-23-02) I think my new, much-deserved new computer rocks!

(01-17-02) I think I'm really excited...we ordered a new computer last night! Dude...we're gettin' a Dell...

(01-09-02) I think every time I turn around, it's time to archive the old thoughts again.

(01-09-02) I think my next computer will be a Mac. Hehe...sorry, I just wanted to see if I could type that with a straight face.

(01-07-02) I think sometimes I wonder how people ever shopped before the internet was around. Even people who never actually buy anything online at least find out more about what they want to buy.

(12-12-01) I think that my site might not be officially standards compliant like Brandon's, but at least it loads on all the browsers! :)

(12-07-01) I think computers are programmed to start running 75% slower the second you start thinking about getting a new computer.

(11-15-01) I think amazon.com is the best thing to happen to shopping since the credit card.

(10-31-01) I think the world should know that Brandon and I dismantled a few computer opponents last night in Red Alert. The last game was classic...we worked together and blew him apart with our helicopters, while I sneaked in a few waves of ground support to take out the rest.

(10-08-01) I think sometimes I just want to say to my computer, "Look, if that was an illegal procedure, we need to change the laws".

(09-17-01) I think this new font on this page looks better than the old one, even if it is copying Brandon's page.

(09-10-01) I think it's sad that What I Think has a lot more entries than What You Think...y'all have me outnumbered, after all...

(08-28-01) I think I feel really stupid when I check my What I Think page to see if it's been updated.

(08-23-01) I think my copy of Internet Explorer is possessed...my text size keeps getting reset to small, and it's hard to read.

(07-26-01) I think you shouldn't be expecting any updates to my web site next week.... :)

(06-01-01) I think I accidentally turned the AUTO-CRASH setting on in Windows on my laptop. Fortunately, rebooting 4 times seems to change it back.

(05-07-01) I think that in the days before Post-It notes were invented, it sure must've been a pain to try to staple little pieces of paper to your computer monitor.

(04-13-01) I think that whether or not Microsoft is Of The Devil (tm), you have to admire their ability to take over a market...
