I Hear Canada Is Nice

I refuse to believe that I live in a country where it's illegal (in some states) to send bulk unsolicited email, or Spam for those of you who are down with the lingo, but perfectly legal for telemarketers to call you at all hours of the day and bother you in general. I don't know about you, but it bothers me much less to hit my delete button on my computer than it does to be woken up or have the phone ring when I'm in the bathroom. And it's not just people selling stuff either...charities are just as bad. LOOK, PEOPLE, WHEN I WANT TO DONATE TO YOU, I'LL CALL YOU. I don't think it's right of them to do that...I'm sure they get more money that way, but is the money really worth it when someone's only giving because they feel guilty or talked into it?

Even the Red Cross has gotten on the bandwagon. I gave blood with them last spring, and they've called me no less than three times this summer trying to ge me to donate. In case you were wondering, I did donate this summer, but it was to a different blood bank. Arg.

If Bush or Gore really wanted my vote, they'd offer to do something about this...
